WELCOME TO THE GCSE!

In Years 10 and 11 all students work towards their GCSE examinations in English Language and most in English Literature ; at the end of the course the majority will receive two GCSE grades and an Oral Communication grade. Through the duration of the course all students are also tested for their ICT skills for which, combined with other subjects, they achieve an IT Certificate.

At Theale Green School we follow the NEAB syllabus which incorporates both coursework and a final examination. Both courses run alongside each other, and as such much of the coursework can be marked for both disciplines. Their coursework folders are ultimately made up of five pieces of written work and three pieces of speaking and listening work, although over the two years they will complete more pieces of coursework, in order to allow them to enter their best marks. Coursework is marked internally and undergoes a rigourous moderation procedure to ensure all candidates recieve standardised grades.
