This will involve:

Reading a range of short stories

Writing stories of their own

What you can do at home:

Read some short stories with your son or daughter and focus on the plot and characters. Use stories at home, or try to visit the library.

Take an interest in the story your son or daughter will be writing for coursework. Read the rough draft and give some constructive criticism.

Homework:

There is plenty of extension work, which can be done at home to support this module.

Students should be encouraged to read as widely as possible and to read stories from a range of genres

Encourage students to write stories or extracts from stories at home. Use pictures to stimulate ideas and encourage students to show stories to their English Teacher.

Homework Using Information Technology

Every half term, English students will be asked to complete a compulsory homework task on the computer, either at home or at school, and to e-mail their work to their English Teacher.

This half term the whole year group will be writing a story, with each class contributing in turn.
