LookingBack At Nepal

So where is Sikkim? Sikkim lies in the far north east corner of India with Tibet to the north and the Himalayan kingdoms of Nepal and Bhutan on either side. Like last year’s visit to Nepal, this trip should be an amazing experience, taking in the sights of a very different culture and the beauty of the Himalayan mountains. Fifteen sixth form students are already preparing for this month-long trip next August by meeting every two weeks. They will be travelling first to Calcutta, India, and from there by train to the foothills of the Himalayas. After several days in the hilltop town of Darjeeling they will set off on a nine day trek to a lake high up in the mountains, camping along the way. There should be some spectacular views of Mount Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world, along the way. One of the highlights of the last visit was a trip to our link school in Nepal. On that visit students at Theale Green gave money towards Science equipment, which was much appreciated. We hope to make contact with a school in India and establish a similar link. The staff on this trip will be Miss Elson, Miss Moulder, Hannah Parsons (a student member of the Nepal trip) and Mr. Webster.
