Benyon House

This has been a very busy time for all with Parents’ evenings, Year 6 induction, Sports Day, Swimming Galas and Arts Week and Benyon Students have been right at the heart of all of it.

Pride of place must go to the fact that we won Sports Day for the first time in thirty years – Well done.

All the trophy winners for this year will be published on the House page of the website after the final assembly on July 23rd. If you have access to the Web it really is worth visiting the School site which is full of News but also lots of useful links as well.

Congratulations must go to George Mason 8Bb for achieving a Gold in the Junior National Maths Challenge with the best mark in the School. Sadly we are losing five staff this Term Mr D Coulson and Miss I Harvey are moving on after just one year with us and Miss Deacon follows her heart after two years. Mr C Gill, although staying in the school, is taking on a new initiative in Year 11 so will no longer have a House affiliation and Mr C Carter steps up to be acting Head of Hunt House.

You’ll be pleased to hear that they have all been replaced and we also have an extra Tutor Group which means that apart from the Sixth form all Group numbers will be about twenty.

The new House Deputy from September will be Mrs. C. Lobley.

All the Staff wish you a happy holiday.

Mr R Kennedy

Scottie News

The main social event this term was the Joint House Quiz, which turned out to be a great success – attracting twenty six teams and over 150 people. I would like to thank everyone who supported this event by coming along, all those who contributed to raffle prizes and especially Mr. Kennedy who made it so enjoyable. You can see the results on the Benyon House website.

We are already planning another big joint event for next year – a barn dance, which we again hope you will support and possibly another Quiz in the autumn.

Our Y12 Prefects have settled in well and have already been a great support with Year 6 Induction, Sports Day and the Swimming Galas. I thank them, too.

Unfortunately, we are saying goodbye to several Scott Tutors this term – Mrs Zambanini, who takes over from Mrs Johnson as Lower School Co-ordinator, Mrs German, Miss Philips and Mrs Coe. We wish them all the best and thank them for their support in Scott House.

And finally, we are also saying goodbye to Sam Flint, Deputy Head of Scott House, who we would like to thank for all her support and hard work, which will be greatly missed.

Have a good Summer!

Mr K Rattew
