THEALE COMMUNITY LUNCH

Theale Green Community School is and always has been very keen to make contact with local community groups to foster stronger links between them for continuing community development.

Towards this end the school initiated the idea of hosting a Community Lunch for local people to come along and meet others of the same mind. Representatives from both the voluntary and statutory sectors have attended the first three Lunches held once per term at the Theale Youth & Community Centre based at Theale Green Community School.

The meetings are co-ordinated by Sarah Ward, a development worker with the Community Council for Berkshire and the most recent meeting held at the end of September discussed amongst other things:

t. The forming of an active retirement group for the Theale area.

2. Meals on Wheels provision.

3. A visiting scheme for the elderly.

4. Greater information about local services.

5. Detached youth provision.

6. Better use of available transport.
