GIRLS’ FOOTBALL
We entered two teams into the Thames Valley Games Tournament run by West Berkshire in Newbury last week.
The Year 8/9 combined team played very well and were one of the best teams in the competition but unfortunately they just couldn't score many goals and eventually ended up third overall, a point behind second and two points behind first place.
The Year 7 team played 8 games and won 5 drew 3. They played some lovely football throughout, winning the last and deciding game in the very last second of the game to secure a fantastic 1st place! The team consisting of Vicki Keen, Sasha Westbrook, Laura Bird, Andrea Lartham, Natalie Williams, Louise Winchester and Bethan Rowlands now go on to represent the district in the Thames Valley Games on July 9th in Windsor. Well done to all the girls.

Year 11 Students Revision Day
This has been a busy term for Year 11 students preparing for their GCSE examinations. One of the highlights of the term was the visit from the 'Learning Performance' educational seminar company on 14th April. The day involved a series of interactive workshops which developed study and revision skills. The Year 11 students were very enthusiastic about the day - they enjoyed the interactive and structured activities and the feedback was very positive.
The company also presented a Parents' Forum in the evening, informing parents of concrete ways in which they can support their children in preparing for GCSE examinations. Attendance at this event was excellent - thank you to the parents who attended.
We are looking forward to booking the company for another visit next year, hopefully earlier in the year so that we can support our next Year 11 cohort in preparing for GCSEs.
Changes in leadership team roles
From next half term we will be restructuring the roles of our leadership team to create clear responsibility for each of our key stages. Our two deputy heads will become Key Stage Managers: Mr Bertrand will be responsible for Key Stage 3 and Mr Ramsden for Key Stage 4. Mr Shelley, one of our assistant heads, will take a similar role in the Sixth Form incorporating the job of Head of Sixth Form. We believe this will give us tighter control on standards in each key stage and allow us to focus on student progress. They will be supported in this work by our house staff who will develop a particular link with one of the key stages; you will receive more details of this from your Head of House in due course.
Please
refer any concerns about your child to the house staff in the first instance
and to the Key Stage Manager if you need to speak to someone more senior.
