‘AUNTY’ BERYL SAYS BYE-BYE.
Mrs Beryl Simmonds, our Resources manager, is retiring on the last day of the Autumn Term after 14 years of service to the school.
Beryl will be remembered affectionately by both staff and students alike as someone who has always been willing to help, particularly with their ‘last minute deadline must do urgently needed yesterday’ type jobs as well as having an unnerving ability to frighten all failing photocopying machines into working again!
She says, "I will miss the friendliness of all staff in my day to day dealings with them. They have let me into their lives and that has been lovely. I have had invitations to weddings and parties, seen their new born babies and generally felt to be part of things and of the life of the school".
Beryl’s general all round efficiency has not gone unnoticed, and she has already had offers of a couple of jobs – one at the University of Reading working with former staff member Doctor Martin Parsons. The second offer has come from Ian Hankinson the Youth Centre leader, to be a local councillor in her village of Tadley.
No doubt Beryl will also be keeping up her position as number one supporter of the Basingstoke Bisons Ice Hockey Team too!
There is plenty to look forwards to in the future for Beryl who will be keeping up her links with the school with the many contacts and friends she has made here.
