Inspired by the successes of last year, over 20 Theale Green Community School students entered this year’s Reading Young Chef 2001 competition.

In a hectic two hours the chefs and their assistants produced a delicious array of dishes for their favourite celebrities.

The judges were Mrs Jean Tynan and Mrs Beryl Simmonds from Theale Green School, Mrs Beverley Graves from Central Berkshire Education Business Partnership and Mr Charles Gaunt from the Hanover International Hotel.

The winners in the key stage 3 category were Jo Allen (chef) and Paul Anderson (assistant).

In the key stage 4 section the winners were Emma Thompson (chef) and Charlotte Christie (assistant). Runners up were Louise Cook and Natasha Tesky.

The winners will now go forward to the finals in Reading in March.

All participants received a certificate and a £5 MacDonalds voucher.
